Our customer
Meier Logistik GmbH was founded on 1 June 2018 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Meier Lederwaren. The company distributes, among others, its own brand EMILY & NOAH as well as the licensed brands SURI FREY and Tamaris. The focus is on bags, backpacks and wallets in a wide range of designs, from classic to distinctive. Meier Logistik also places great importance on sustainable production.
At its Saarlouis site, the company employs more than 50 people with many years of experience in e-commerce and logistics. In addition to distributing its own brands, Meier Logistik offers professional e-commerce fulfilment services. These include incoming goods inspection, barcode labelling, order picking, distribution and returns logistics. In this way, the company helps its customers focus more strongly on their core business.
Initial situation and customer requirements
- The retailer's goal is to have all the desired items in stock. This places high demands on intralogistics.
- On average, around 800 to 1,000 suitcases, handbags and school bags leave the company premises every day.
- A new building was inevitable if all deliveries were to reach customers on time. Since the company was established, Kofferprofi.de has recorded continuous growth.
- „Customers appreciate the convenience of the Internet, but above all our extensive range and our reliability: Orders received by 3pm must be picked and dispatched on the same day,” emphasizes Stefan Maurer.
- The leased warehouse capacities had become too small and material flow was inefficient.

Project brief
The BITO Solution
We installed a three-tier shelving system with a floor surface of 1,250 square meters and a height of 7.5 meters. A very good degree of floor space utilisation can be achieved with this solution.
The special feature is that each tier is divided up exactly in the same way. An area of almost 3,000 square meters per tier is for large compartments size A. Up to four suitcases fit in one compartment. And around 3,000 square meters are intended for compartment size B and C. This area stores more compact goods packed in cardboard boxes such as handbags and small items such as purses. This means that Kofferprofi.de has a total usable area of almost 6,000 square meters on every level.
Fire protection was another important aspect. In order to avoid installing an expensive sprinkler system, the company opted for a holistic fire protection concept.

- 7,000 shelf levels on three floors provide Kofferprofi.de with sufficient storage space and the ability to react quickly and flexibly as is required in e-commerce.
- On-time delivery must be guaranteed.
- Intralogistics processes must run smoothly.
