The BITO PROflow pallet live storage system
Choosing the right storage system can save your business significant time and expenses. Perfectly coordinated logistical processes therefore play a substantial role in your business’ success.
BITO PROflow live pallet storage enables highly compact, clearly arranged warehousing. Process times are cut down and intralogistical flows become easier to calculate. This avoids downtime, increases warehouse productivity and reduces storage costs.
A pallet live storage system eliminates the need for service aisles within the block, saving 60 percent more storage space than a standard pallet rack.
Unlike block storage, pallet live storage also permits direct access to all stored items at all times. This guarantees high flexibility and reduces the time taken to pick goods.
BITO PROflow works based on one of two principles:
The FiFo principle
In the FiFo (first in, first out) principle, the first item stored is also the first to be retrieved. Each individual channel in a block is loaded with pallets from the loading side. Products are picked from the opposite side. A load separator on the picking side ensures that service vehicles can retrieve the pallets without having to compensate for lane pressure. This helps prevent damage to goods.
The LiFo principle
In the LiFo (Last in, first out) principle, the last item stored is the first to be retrieved. Goods are both stocked and retrieved from the same side of the rack. The pallets are pushed into the live storage rack against the incline with the help of a service vehicle. This rack type is therefore known as push-back racking.

Safe racking access - The »PLS« Access Kit
The Access Kit provides easy and safe access to a trouble spot within a pallet live storage facility without exposing staff to any risk. This means that the cause of a problem can be analysed and components such as brake rollers and conveyor rollers can be cleaned, repaired or maintained without risking health or life.
The starter kit includes: 5 BITO easyHOOKs, 5 twist-lock carabiners, 1 blocking device "heavy duty”, 1 blocking device “light duty”, 1 holding device for the FlowStop load separator, 1 fall arrester, 1 body harness, 1 starting board, 1 intermediate board, 4 connecting boards. An extension kit comprising 1 BITO easyHOOK, 1 twist-lock carabiner and 1 connecting board is also available.
The »PLS« Access Kit ‒ 1 kit for 3 applications:
- Removal of obstacles that prevent pallets from moving down a lane or general troubleshooting within a pallet flow lane. Properly secured, the assembly person can access the trouble spot, walking on the boards that have been placed on the rollers of the adjacent lane.
- Repairs and maintenance can be done working in the affected lane.
- Cleaning (f. ex. dirty rollers) can also be done by walking into the affected lane.
Your benefits
General benefits
- High flexibility, short timeframes
» Unlike block storage, BITO PROflow storage presents all stored items for direct access at the front of the rack. For high flexibility and fast order picking.
- FiFo storage
» First stored, first picked: The FiFo principle makes it easier to monitor shelf lives, batches and production series. The distinction between picking and replenishment sides also helps prevent corresponding disruptions caused by drivers. This makes the picking process and the overall warehouse environment safer.
- Eliminate unnecessary aisles
» Compact storage and the elimination of unnecessary aisles result in a gain of floor space of up to 60%. The existing storage space can be used more effectively.
Internal transport routes are dramatically shortened - travel times can be reduced by up to 40 percent. This minimises order throughput times, allowing output to increase correspondingly.
Save money with PROflow
Your stock turnover rate influences your logistical costs enormously. As this image shows, our PROflow system effectively saves you money with nine or more stock turns per year. If a warehouse with 600 pallet positions turns over 20 times, the average annual saving will be approximately 7,000 euros. A turnover frequency of 50 pallets results in a savings of around 25,000 euros. This accounts for the costs of storage space, racks, service vehicles and picking.
Direct access
Unlike conventional pallet racking, pallet live storage is distinguished by much more compact, clearly organised storage. All items are in direct access at the picking face. Each item moves unassisted to the picking position. Sufficient replenishment quantities guarantee constant product availability. The diagram presents two storage installations which both supply 36 reference lines.
Gain more storage space
Compact storage and the elimination of unnecessary aisles result in a gain of floor space of up to 60 %. Strict separation of service aisles avoids corresponding disruptions to the workflow - and the increased picking rate means product turnover also increases. Short travel times improve productivity – in particular at loading docks where pallets are grouped together according to dispatch route.
Save on travel time
Although the time required to supply information and pick remains the same between BITO pallet racks and pallet live storage systems, travel times show significant differences. Thanks to reduced travel times with BITO PROfllow, working times are dramatically reduced, while product turnover increases.
Components & options
BITO FlowStop load separator
Unlike traditional load separators, the BITO Flow-Stop is located outside conveyor vehicles’ area of operation in order to prevent damage caused by collisions. Repair costs within your warehouse are therefore dramatically reduced.
The separator also helps ensure that pallets are always correctly positioned and that the service vehicle can easily retrieve goods from the rack without having to compensate for lane pressure.
The storage system is safer and more convenient to use; there is no need for repeated corrections to fully configure the load carrier.

Modular system
The BITO module system offers a wide range of options to help design your pallet live storage system. The high degree of standardisation enables versatile storage solutions and guarantees our ability to supply and assemble your system in the shortest possible time. You therefore benefit from a high degree of flexibility and a new storage solution which is ready to go quickly.
