Initial situation and customer requirements

    • The number of storage positions needs to be doubled on the same floor area.
    • Narrow warehouse layout with many angles
    • Installation work must be integrated into ongoing operations.
    • The old racking system must be dismantled.
    • Step-by-step conversion during ongoing operations.
    • Close coordination to make sure that works are carried out in the correct sequence.
    • Ergonomic workstation setup to optimise processes for employees.

The BITO Solution

  • » An existing building from 1967 was renovated at the headquarters in Darmstadt. Between the dismantling of the old storage system and the installation of the new live storage racks, the flooring was also refurbished and all fittings were renewed.

  • " Due to moving articles from another location, the storage capacity had to be doubled to accommodate around 19,000 different items on the same floor space.

  • " Capacity of the new carton live installation: approx. 550 bays with flow shelves and 300 static shelving bays. Each rack is equipped with a customised spill tray.

  • " Adaptation of the new shelving and racking to local conditions, e.g. integration of conveyor technology and sprinkler systems.

  • " The central warehouse combines an ideal mix of carton live storage and static shelving.

On-site application

    • Integration into the existing hall, no reconstruction measures.
    • The new storage facilities are used for picking goods for delivery.

Customer benefits

    • More storage capacity on the same floor space.
    • Optimal use of the available space, since product storage in LIFO order requires only one aisle for product infeeding and retrieval.
    • Improved safety at work Each rack corner area is equipped with a forward collision warning device to detect vehicles ahead and a bollard for impact protection.
    • Optimum availability of goods.
